Fort Wayne Area Homeschools Drama Camp
Registration Information DRAMA CAMP 2012!
In November of 2005, FWAHS partnered with the Academy of Arts, a drama ministry founded in 1971 and based in South Carolina, to produce a full length, homeschool only, drama. Since then, we have held week long drama camps every year. Ministry teams spend this week with our homeschooled students, instilling in them the belief that professionally produced drama can effectively teach and reach a community. They are firmly committed to Biblical principles and a conservative worldview and many area homeschoolers can testify to the impact this ministry has had in their lives. This year we are blessed to be able to expand this popular event to two weeks in two different locations, which allows more students to participate and more members of our community to be impacted with the truths of the gospel. Read the following information carefully as you consider enrolling your student for this unique opportunity.
If your student participates in drama camp, he/she must:
- Only sign up for one camp. Students will not be allowed to participate in more than one camp.
- Know that attendance is mandatory for all auditions, sessions, rehearsals, and performances. Be sure there are no conflicts in your schedule.
- Be prepared to work hard. The schedule can be fairly grueling. Be sure to keep the maturity of your younger children in mind when registering. Elementary students are not involved in learning about makeup, props, sets, etc. and often there is a lot of time spent sitting still, not talking to your neighbor and being patient. If this is a challenge for your child, consider giving them one more year of maturity.
Auditions Don’t let this section alarm you. If enrolled in a Drama Camp, all students will be in the play. However, not all students will have a speaking part. Auditions allow us to place each student in the best possible role. In theatre, there are no small parts. Even walk on parts are crucial and the Academy Ministry Team will do an excellent job ensuring that your student is part of the team that makes a fabulous production, regardless of the role or character they portray. Remember, you MUST be confirmed as a registered participant in Drama Camp to participate in auditions. All auditions will be held at Grace Gathering Church on February 17th 2012. Upon registration, you will receive tryout day details. Below are descriptions of each camp week from which you may choose to register. Click Here for Try-Out Card information.

Lottie Moon & Raise the Flag are now full. Please consider registering for the second week of drama camp. There are so many excellent reasons to choose the Boggs play. It will provide a lower student to staff ratio, give all students a much greater chance of landing a significant role in the the play, and allow students to perform for an audience twice. Hope to see you there.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
- If a family has more than two students, costs are as follows: full price for two oldest students, half price for every student thereafter.
- You may register children in the same family for two different weeks, but each child may still only register for one week each.
- FWAHS is generously offering five $50 scholarships. There is a limit of two per family and is for those families truly in need. They are awarded on a “first come, first serve” basis. Please contact Tim Paden for details about this scholarship. You must act immediately as applying for a scholarship does NOT hold your place if the camp becomes full.
- Donations help defray our cost. Information on how you can help will be provided at parent meeting that will be held during auditions.
- DO NOT call the churches for information. They graciously allow us to use their facility but have no specifics about drama camp or its operation. If you have questions, email (with DRAMA in the subject line) Barb Powers your questions. For more information about the Academy of Arts, visit their website.
